You know a tour is going to go well when the ladies like "Mad Men"
and they are excited to see their new Rockefeller Center offices
at the Time-Life Building.
They are fans of "Frida"
and wanted to see what happened to Diego Rivera's Mural in 30 Rock:
("Man at the Crossroads" was destroyed because Rivera insisted on depicting Lenin in Rockefeller Center's center, a capitalist real estate development that supported employment in the depths of the Great Depression.) It was replaced in 1937 with this mural:
(Jose· Maria Cert's "American Progress")
Emmy Awards Winning "Mad Men" is known as 'the best show that no one watches,' and Frida won awards for cinematography, art direction, make up, costumes, and music. Not a blockbuster. Before today's tour around three people recalled it. I haven't bothered to ask if anyone has seen Frida in years! They asked to see it.
We saw the Fred French Building Lobby, the New York Public Library's Reading Room, Ernest Flagg's Scribner Building, Grand Central, the American Radiator Building, the Chrysler Building, the Empire State Building, the Flatiron Building, three Metropolitan Life towers, the Woolworth Building, the Lever Building, and the Seagram Building.
